North Country Snowmobile Club Terra-X Debut Race

Saturday, January 12th

 Registration Friday Jan. 11th - 6-8PM

For the past week the MASTERS and members of the North Country Snowmobile Club have been working on the Terra-X Debut Race track, Pit area, and Fan area.  The Track is set up, cones are up, the table-top has been groomed, some of the Pit area has been plowed out.  With the help of the Village of Ontonagon Department of Public Works, they are going to haul snow in early this coming week.  The Groomer will then put that snow on portions of the 1/4 mile track.

You can see the video of the track on our Masters Racing Circuit Facebook page, along with a video of the proposed course for the 120's, the table top jump, and the fan area.  Now if you do not have Facebook, here is the best explanation of the track that I can give.

After the start line we go to a 'slalom' with 3 tight turns, out of the slalom we have a sweeping left hand turn that takes you to the Table Top Jump.  Now those that do not want to take the jump, we have cones set up on the right side of the jump that a racer can go around the jump.  After the jump or the optional cones around the jump, you go straight for a short distance than take a right to go up a small hill where you will have to side-hill.  From that you will come down, take a right, then go up another little larger hill, side hill that with a turn to the left.  At the bottom of the hill you will have a right turn that will give you a straight shot to the Finish line and an area where you will have to come to a complete stop.

Every racer gets 2 runs that are timed, where you are the only one on the course.  The fastest 2 times will then qualify for the Class Championship 'Shoot-out' where the two racers will race on the course at the same time for winning the class.  Trophy's will go out to the top 2 finishers in Junior, Stock 600, Stock 850, Mod 600, Mod 850.  Open Stock and TOP GUN will have 100% cash payback and Trophy's to the top 2.  120 Stock and 120 Mod will get trophy's to the Top 3, with the fastest 2 times in qualifying running in the Class Championship Shoot-out.

The order each racer goes in the class will be done through a draw of those registered on Friday Night.  The 2nd Round will be reverse order of the 1st round.  The order of the classes will be determined on Friday Night or Saturday.

We have had an individual that would like us to run a Vintage class.  If we can get 3 people with sleds no newer than 1990, we will run a Vintage class.  We'd love to have a Women's class if we had 3 women that would try it.

Terra-X is going to be a lot of fun.  It is a new form of racing that everyone can have fun and compete in.  For those with racing experience, we have the Open Stock and TOP GUN class.  TOP GUN is a full Mod sled with a STOCK Chassis.  When you look at the video, you will see where Terra-X is very 'driver oriented.'    Please note that on the Terra-X Registration which is attached, we have TOP DOG, this is supposed to be TOP GUN.

We're going to have a 3 race point series to crown our 2019 TOP GUN Champion after the final Terra-X at Mont du Lac outside of Duluth/Superior on April 6th.  The 2nd Terra-X will be March 16th at Adventure Mtn in Greenland, MI.  Now this coming Saturday's North Country Snowmobile Club Terra-X is the only Terra-X that is not on a hill.

Final Registration is Friday Night between 6 and 8 pm EASTERN Time at the North Country Snowmobile Clubhouse.  This is located on the Old Norwich Trail, which is the road across from the M-64 Truck-Stop.  We'll have signs along the highway to direct you to the clubhouse and the Pit area.  The Terra-X Registration Form and the Insurance required Parental Consent Form for those competing in the 120 and Junior Classes is attached.  Remember, it is INSURANCE Rules that BOTH Parents have to either sign the consent form in front of a MASTERS Official or a Notary of the Public.  This is NOT a MASTERS Rule, but an Insurance rule, so if you are pre-registering and will not have BOTH Parents at the race, you need to fill that out and sign it in front of a Notary and have it Notorized.

Every driver will have the option to get one Test N Tune run between 10:00 and 10:30 am ET.  We'll have the drivers meeting at 10:30 am ET by the Officials Trailer.  We're going to start racing at 11:00 am.

We have a separate entrance to the Pit area, and that will also have signs.  You will go a short distance past the Clubhouse, then you'll see the road to your right to the Pit area.

We really appreciate if you are planning on racing to get a room at one of our long-time club members and sponsors, Scott's Superior Inn and Cabins, 906-884-4866.  E-mail address is:

If you cannot make it to Friday Night's Registration, you can fill out and send your registration with the fee's in via mail. We need to get this by this Thursday.  Send it too:  MASTERS, % Ontonagon Terra-X, 610 Greenland Road, Ontonagon, MI 49953.
